GOBI (10 DAYS)
Day 1 - Ulaanbaatar -> Baga Gazriin Chuluu
Depart from Ulaanbaatar and drive south across the open steppe landscapes. Arrive at Baga Gazriin Chuluu, known for its granite rock formations, and explore the area with short walks to caves and viewpoints.
Day 2 - Tsagaan Suvarga (White Stupa)
Continue to Tsagaan Suvarga, a distinctive formation of layered sedimentary cliffs. Walk along the escarpment and observe how the colors of the rocks become more defined towards the evening.
Day 3 - Umnugobi, Yol Valley
Travel further into the Gobi region and enter Gurvan Saikhan National Park. Visit Yol Valley and hike through the narrow gorge, where ice formations can often still be seen despite warmer temperatures.
Day 4 - Khongoriin Els (Singing Dunes)
Drive to Khongoriin Els, one of the largest sand dune areas in Mongolia. Explore the dunes on foot, with the option to climb to the top for a broad view over the surrounding desert and steppe.
Day 5 - Bayanzag (Flaming Cliffs)
Visit Bayanzag, an important paleontological site where dinosaur fossils have been discovered. Walk through the red sandstone cliffs and learn about the historical findings in this area.
Day 6 - Ongi Monastery
Begin the journey north and reach the remains of Ongi Monastery, once a significant religious center. Explore the ruins located along the Ongi River and gain insight into its historical importance.
Day 7 - Ulaan Tsutgalan Waterfall
Continue to the Orkhon Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its cultural landscape. Visit Ulaan Tsutgalan waterfall and take a short walk around the surrounding volcanic terrain.
Day 8 - Kharkhorin (Karakorum)
Drive to Kharkhorin, the site of the former capital of the Mongol Empire. Visit Erdene Zuu Monastery, one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries in Mongolia, and explore the local museum.
Day 9 - Khustai National Park
Travel to Khustai National Park, established for the conservation of the Przewalski’s horse. Spend time observing wildlife, including wild horses, deer, and other steppe species.
Day 10 - Ulaanbaatar
Return to Ulaanbaatar after breakfast. Transfer to your hotel or the airport, depending on your onward travel arrangements.
